UPDATE 30 AUGUST 2018

Have not been posting for sometime now as we have been pretty busy.  Lots of smoke from fires most of the summer so far.

Sheryl and Shelly kayaking at Como Lake.

They have some new kayaks and doing well in them.

A full moon rise.

Lots of deer still around our place.

Sunset through the smokey skies.

The deer still use our stock waterers to drink as do many other birds and animals.

Pam stopped by for a visit and we went hiking up at Como Lake in the rain.

Pretty wet wood.

Their raincoats matched.

Zeph looking a little wet.

Fresh watered grass and flowers for the fawn!!!

BIG ISLAND VISITORS

Our friends from the Big Island in Hawaii are on the mainland for the summer so stayed a few days with us.  We went up to the Seeley Lake area and did some kayaking.  Was a little disappointing in the number of people that were up there in the middle of the week.  We could not find a campground that had spaces available.  So we stayed in a gravel pit the first night.  Marney said it reminded her of camping in Alaska in 1991 during our retirement party.  Connie and I knew every gravel pit between Fairbanks and Homer in those days after spending so long living up there.  We ended up camping at Holland Lake and kayaking there.  Great weather for the most part and had a great time.

Our gravel pit campsite.  Not bad in my opinion.

The Lodge at Holland Lake from our kayak.

Great water for kayaking.

A snack and a little walk up a creek.

The falls at the end of the Lake.

Flat water with a few clouds.

The sun broke through and lit up the other side of the lake while we were having our supper on the beach.

Hiking the trail by the canoe/kayak trail by the ranger station.

We saw some bear scat on the trail.  Notice the candy wrappers and other things in it.

Back in the Bitterroot we hung our welcome sign.  Bill is mixing cement to pour in the holes.  Marney is supervising.

UPDATE: 1 AUGUST 2018

Finally got a few pictures ready to put on the blog.  These will be pictures from the Huff (my mother's family name) family reunion that was held up near Kalispell, MT. last month.  We have this reunion every two years and it is always enjoyable to see all the first, second, and third cousins.  Won't bore you with pictures of that but one day Connie and I took a hike up into the mountains around there.  We had been delayed for a day because we had some mechanical problems with the truck.  Some sensors and a module went out on the exhaust system while going through Missoula.  The check engine light came on right by the Ford dealer there so just pulled in.  It was a day delay because they didn't have the right parts and they were over night shipped.  All this computerized engine stuff is just over my head.  But, we have to deal with it.  Anyway we were a day late getting to the RV Park the reunion was held at.  A few pictures of our hike.

Lots of wildflowers blooming on the Switchback Trail.

Connie and Zeph getting a drink.

The views were great.

The trail was good and 93 switchbacks!

When we got back to the Bitterroot we did a nice drive and hike up by Como Lake just to do something different instead of working around here all the time.

Good view of Como Lake.

This is a mountain up Lost Horse Creek.
