UPDATE 30 MAY 2015

Been busy around here with the Memorial Day festivities/parade and just keeping up with this place.  The parade was a good one and everyone seemed to have a good time.  Carl, Deb, and the kids were over here and it was good spending a little time with them.  Connie and I have been riding quite a bit.  The elk are all over the place and starting to calve.  Had to do some fence repair the other day as they took out the fence on the south end of the meadow.  They do good unless they are spooked, then the fence takes a hit.

Went for a hike to look at some rocks Carl and Deb found on their property that probably are not native to this area.

This is the rock pile they found.

Rocks like these are not found around here I don't think.

The flower beds are in bloom.

We saw these elk to the east of us on a ride the other day.

Moss sending up their "flowers" I guess.

The roses are really starting to pop open.

JUNIOR AND HIGH SCHOOL RODEO IN DARBY

I went up to Darby to watch the rodeo nephew Jack was in.  With all the rain we have had the conditions of the arena were pretty wet and soggy.  The pictures will attest to that fact.  Connie was not feeling so good so I went by myself.

These girls are making sure the calves run towards the other end of the arena instead of turning and trying to go back to the pens.

Junior ribbon roping.  One ropes the calf, gets off and holds it and the other grabs a ribbon off the calf and runs it to the judge.

A little bull riding.

Team roping in the mud.

These girls are pretty good ropers.

Jack heading (he is the one with the bad leg).  They won this competition the day before.

Morgan's two daughters.

Tom, Morgan, and the two girls.

Some blue sky showing up.

Duston carried the goats for the goat tying in on his horse.  Greg and Teresa in the foreground.

This girl lost her boot in the mud in the goat tying.

After a couple of runs the goats had to be changed out.

Duston was starting to look a little dirty himself by the end of the goat tying.

DISTRICT TRACK MEET

Went to the District Track Meet in Corvallis this weekend to watch Doug and Rita's boys compete.  Joel was running the 800 meter and Ben was doing the triple jump.  Also watched some other friends daughter do the pole vault.

This girl from Hamilton had great form in the triple jump I was told.

Joel running the 800 meter.

Katelyn Frost wins the pole vault most of the time.  And she also won the 100 & 200 meter dashes. I have known the frost family since I was a kid.

Ben doing the triple jump.

UPDATE 15 MAY 2015

We got some much needed rain the last few days and a lot of folks are smiling.  Our summer water situation is not looking so good as the snow pack is low for this time of year.  A few pictures below.

Low clouds after the rain.

Rain drop prism.

Arrowleaf Balsam Roots are really blooming around here.

Ike, Brenda, Connie, and I served food to the referees at the Maggot Fest rugby tournament in Missoula as a fund raiser for our Legion Post.

Connie snapped a couple of pictures of this snake below our cabin.  It is a gopher snake or more commonly called a Bullsnake around here.  This is a fairly large one and they can get up to 7 feet long.
