UPDATE 28 OCTOBER 2018

The hunters are still hunting but just a couple of deer are all that have been taken so far.  Our friends from Washington are here staying in the cabin trying to get some elk and deer.  Carl is also over here hunting and his big news is that he is now retired from Boeing. They will be moving here in the next year or so.  Been doing some things to get ready for winter.  It will be here faster than we think or want it to be.  Connie was at a little horse clinic the other day and I dropped by to take a few pictures. Since it is near Halloween, they had all the participants dress up.  Connie went as a hippy - looked a lot like she did back when I met her in Salt Lake with long red hair, a bandana, and big earrings!!!!  Not much snow in the mountains yet.  We are getting a little rain so that helps keep things green.  No real hard freeze yet.

This picture is of a lady trying to get her horse to put it's nose in the sand.  Some horses would just not do it.  She was dressed up as a butterfly.

The two who put on the clinic are really good instructors.  That is Ethan with the cowboy hat on and his wife is in the blue outfit to the far right.

This is Princess Leia,

This is Connie with her long red hair.

Bill is asking Connie "What are you doing with your hand under my tail??"

Just some early morning pictures on our walk.

And we have been seeing a lot of turkeys again.

RIDING WITH MY BROTHER GARY

Connie and I took my brother Gary for a little horseback ride today.  It has been a few years since Gary was on a horse.  Thought it would be a good time as the weather is supposed to change from really nice warm sunny fall days to cool temperatures and some rain.  We caught up three horses and rode east from our place.  Ran into some elk which is not unusual but the hunters have not been seeing very many of them so far this hunting season.  It was a good ride and I think Gary had a good time riding his old horse Red.

Horses saddled and just about to get on.

Fall colors down by our meadow.

A friend sent me this photo of Air Force One parked at the Missoula airport when President Trump was holding a rally there.  It was a nice sunset that the President got to see.

DRIVE HOME UP WILLOW CREEK

Connie and I drove up to Missoula today to do some shopping that we have been putting off for sometime.  We both hate going to Missoula because of the traffic.  But today we left early and got to Costco just after they opened and breezed right in and out.  Well, as fast as you can get in and out of a Costco store.  Also hit Walmart for a few things and then headed home.  When we turned up Willow Creek I grabbed my camera and took a few pictures as we are in full fall bloom around here.  Since we were moving along in the jeep some of the pictures are probably not the best as far as crisp and clear go.  I included a couple of our drive up to Missoula also.

Highway 93 north bound to Missoula.  Not much traffic early.

Around Victor we spied this hot air balloon.

On our way home and we have just turned up Willow Creek.  This is the old Hosko place that I spent some time with a school chum Danny Hosko.  Learned quite a bit about milking cows in that barn.

As with any place back then, there were always fruit trees.

Looking west across the Bitterroot Valley.

Now looking south.

These are the trees around the old Holt place.

Looking north as Connie driving east on Willow Creek just before we turn up our lane.

A NEPHEWS MONTANA WEDDING

Our Grandnephew Duston married his sweetheart Allison last week over in Bozeman and it was quite a wedding.  The reason it was in Bozeman is that Duston's family lives here in the Bitterroot and Allison's family has a ranch over in Circle.  Bozeman is about half way between the two.  They had no idea that there would be snow on their wedding day in October.  But snow it did.  It started about sunrise and continued for quite sometime.  The wedding place was a little higher in altitude than town and when the wedding started, there was about a foot of snow on the ground.  But everyone took it in stride and a good time was had by all who attended.

Connie and I took our camper and pulled the jeep over to Bozeman.  This is the Hot Springs near 4 corners campground.

These cute girls were handing out the programs and bubble makers.

Lots of friends and family attended.
