UPDATE 4 JUNE 2013

We seem to be very busy but do not seem to get a lot accomplished.  We did have some rain the other day which really helped our very dry spring so far.  Below are some random pictures from the past few days.

These are the male pine cones containing pollen sacs that are opening now.  Yellow pollen is covering everything.

These are the just forming female pine cones that the pollen settles on to fertilize the seeds.

Zephyrus gets really close as he follows Bill Cody while Connie is riding.  

This dark area on the west side of the Bitterroot is from the fire we had in September of last year which dropped a lot of ash here in the valley.  We have had a dry spring around here and people are worried about a bad fire season this year.

A couple of calves running through the sage brush to follow their mothers.

More cows and calves.  There were about a dozen cows in this bunch and I think I counted six calves so that is pretty good for this early in the calving season.

These three cows spotted me and were a little worried that I was watching them.

RILEY'S GRADUATION

Tracy and Angie's son Riley graduated from High School this year.  He is planning on attending the University of Montana next year and has a few scholarships that will help him in that endevour.  At the graduation ceremonies in Corvallis the American Legion posts the colors to start it off.  I have been on this detail for many years since I am an alumni.  Nephew Doug also does it most years and especially when family or friends have someone graduating.
