UPDATE 2 March 2018

We are finally warming up down here in the Ajo area.  It is the coldest we have ever been down here.  Been having to run the heater every morning – sure glad we have a solar panel to charge the batteries!  We had a heavy frost the other morning which we have never experienced here before.  Been doing some excellent long walks and exploring a few places.

One of the reasons I am so slow on updates is because I left my charging cord for my laptop at home and had to order another from radio shack here in Ajo.  Did do one update with the netbook we always carry but it is pretty hard to do the pictures on it.  Will try and update more often now.

This is Lake Pleasant where we camped just north of Phoenix.

Palm trees at Gila Bend.

Our campsite just south of Ajo.

Lots of Organ pipe cactus around here.

Area where we walk.

A chain cholla.

My walking pardners.  It has always been cool in the mornings as you can see by the down coat.

A forest of jumping cholla.

The camp with a rain storm coming.

Where a rabbit has eaten a cactus.

The ocotilla have bloomed but no leaves this year because it has been so dry.

UPDATE 27 February 2018

We left Burro Canyon and drove to Pleasant Lake where we camped for a couple of nights.  Ran over to see our friends Ross and Brenda in the Troon area.  Had a great lunch with them but could not believe how that area has grown in houses and malls!! We are now down in the Ajo area and it is warmer.  We have met up with Gary and Georgine from St George, UT.  It is very dry here and the ocotillos do not even have any leaves on them this year but are still starting to bloom.  Have not seen any other flowers so far and seem to be seeing less birds.  We have only seen one phainopepla so far and they are always common around here.  Still see the flickers but only a couple of hummers.

Zeph always has something in his mouth.
