HIKING CEDAR MESA 1

After our kayaking on Flaming Gorge, we headed down to southern Utah to hike in the Cedar Mesa area checking out old Anasazi ruins.  We had some pretty good rains and some spectacular lightning and thunder storms.  Got to see a number of new ruins and a few olds ones.

This is comb ridge where we camped for three nights.

The pectroglyphs were great just up the canyon.

Zeph did really good on the hikes - did not like it much if we all separated.  He likes his group together.

Got caught in a rain storm up one canyon but got out okay.  It is great to see the little water falls after a rain.

A group shot with a panel of pectroglyphs behind.

We all got a little muddy.

Some of the ruins.

The stains on the canyon walls.

Lots of water in the desert this fall.

RANDOM PICTURES FROM FLAMING GORGE AND AREA

Below are some more pictures from the Flaming Gorge area and on our way to Cedar Mesa.  More posts will follow in the coming days as we are headed home now and have cell phone service which means internet.  Not much cell phone service where we have been camping and not our provider so that really limited us on our internet usage.

Saw quite a few moose in the high country above Flaming Gorge.

Our tent up above the lake.

Lots of sheep along the shoreline.

Bill, Zeph, and I at Tamarak Lake above 10,000 feet.

Another high country lake.

Flaming Gorge in the rain.

Some controlled burning was going on.

This moose was not a bit scared of us.

Got to see some great rainbows.
