HIKING IN THE TETONS

Connie and I left the Centennial Valley and headed down to a forest service campground near Driggs, ID to meet up with Bill and Marney to do some hiking before they headed back to Hawaii.  We did not get to spend much time with them this summer as I was pretty laid up with my shoulder surgery.  But there is always next year.  It rained on us the first day so we did not do any long hikes, but the second day was cool with no rain and plenty of sunshine.  We decided to hike the trail less trodden called the Beard Wheat Field Trail.  Not a very heavily traveled trail that is for sure.  And it is steep in a few spots.  The views are really good though.  My legs were tired that night as I have not been climbing that many mountains.  I guess we got up close to 10,000 feet in elevation.  I know the air was thin as I was puffing pretty hard sometimes.

We stopped in Ashton, ID at a RV park for the night on our way to Driggs.  We all needed a shower and to get more water.  Zeph had to have a bath as he was really dirty so I put him in the little shower tub and washed him up.  He does not really like the baths much and was disappointed his "cowdog" smell was getting washed off.  Click on a picture to enlarge it.

Of course we had to celebrate Connie's birthday again with B & M.

The morning we hiked it was rather cold and frost was all over.

Once we started hiking up that hill though, the coats came off.

The views just got better the higher we went.

Lunch break.

Now these ladies travel with smart phones and at this altitude were texting and sending instagrams and checking their emails.  As you can see, they both are working their phones.

Relaxing after the hike.
