REBECCA FARM

Connie and I went up to Kalispell and took in the "Event" at Rebecca Farm.  The Event is three full days of eventing - dressage, cross-country jumping, and stadium jumping.  What a show!  We were there a couple of years ago with Doug and Rita to watch Rita's friend compete.  This year we watched Rita's friend plus Rita and Connie's riding partner's daughter Madison compete as well as watching a couple of horses that Rita bred and raised at their place.  So there were some great connections while we were there.  And what a great place they have there at Rebecca Farm.  It is very pretty, well maintained, and you can tell the pride in which the folks who run it take in it.  This is their 15th year of competition.  I will make a number of posts on the event.  This first one is just of the first day with some dressage and cross country.  Click on any picture to enlarge.

Madison on Fly Me Away (Finn) in the Dressage Arena.

Look at that smile after finishing her dressage competition.

This is a sequence of Madison and Finn of one of the jumps in the cross country.  Finn really likes to check out the jumps as you can tell by his ears.

HIKING TO STONY LAKE

Took Bill and Marney on a hike to Stony Lake just to the east of us.  Hiked through a lot of old burn areas and saw how they are coming back.  Great hike although there were a few mosquitoes down by the lake.

Taking a break from hiking.  In the area before the burn.

A snack just before we drop off down to the lake.  This area burned.

Lots of wildflowers along the lake shore.

A shorebird chick that had it's mother very concerned when we walked by.

Another break spot part way up the hill on our way back.

Just about to the top of the ridge.

Lots of flowers along the trail.

At the top and you can see the lake below.

KAYAKING AT PAINTED ROCKS

Bill and Marney are here visiting us for a few days.  We took them up the West Fork to the reservoir and paddled over to Blue Joint to have lunch.  Great day to be on the water.  It is always fun paddling with them.  We have done lots of trips together in our kayaks - always a great time with these two.

B & M in their kayak for the first time this summer.

An osprey diving off a tree.
