UPDATE 29 SEPTEMBER 2019

We got our first snow of the year/season today and it was pretty wet.  Not much just about 3 inches but will sure make the corrals muddy.  And the temperature will drop tonight.  So yesterday with that kind of forecast I got our camper all winterized.  And we covered a few flowers last night.

Our friend Pam from Utah stopped by for a visit and it is always great to visit with her.  We took her for a horse back ride to the east of our place.  Also did a drive up Willow Creek and was surprised how smooth the road was.  We had heard they had graded it this summer as they are going to do some logging up there we hear.

The view of the valley from higher up Willow Creek.

Lots of color along the road also.

Pam riding Bill and Connie on Peg.  Connie kept her helmet on after doing some jumping on Blu.

The Mexican Daisies look a little cold with the snow on them.

This is the first time this Century Plant has ever had snow on it I'll bet!

ACKLEY LAKE

We left the rocky mountain front and headed east to Hobson, MT.  There is a State Park called Ackley Lake there and we pulled in for a night.  Great place.  Very clean and well taken care of.  And this time of year it was not crowed by any means.  We found a nice campsite and were greeting by a committee of three ducks wanting to know what we brought them.  It was cute.  Zeph was not impressed though.  Had a great sunset and a beautiful sunrise the next morning.  Left there and drove to Clark's Canyon Reservoir and spent the night. Dad and Mom spent a lot of time fishing this place back in the day.  It was their favorite spot to fish I think.

The welcoming committee.

Lots and lots of hay bales in this country.  I have never seen so many bales of hay.

What a great sunset we had.

The town of Hobson has a lot a hay bale art.

EXPLORING THE TETON RIVER AREA

Below are some pictures of the Teton River area when we camped at Cave Mountain. Wonderful place and we will go back if we get a chance.

The Teton River

An old burn area.  Lots of these in this area.

Lots of standing dead trees.

Quakes are really coming up in the burn areas though.

The local ski resort.

Lots of mountain peaks with unusual tops.

I want to play ball!!!!!

Connie figuring out where we are going to go next.

THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN FRONT

We are continuing our See MT 2019 trip and spent some time seeing the Rocky Mountain Front.  We camped for a few nights up the Benchmark Road at Woods Lake.  Did some exploring and hiking around.  What a great place to feast your eyes on some spectacular scenery.  We drove to the end of the road where there are a lot of outfitters taking people into the Wilderness area.  We also found a 6000 foot runway up there which I was not aware of.  And it is paved!  I could land my c-130 there twice with that much runway!!  Here are some pictures of the area.

Our campsite.

We noticed lots of moss on the trees on a hike around the Lake.

And lots of mushrooms.

Juniper berries.

A hike behind our camp.

Lots of rocks have fallen off the mountain over the years.

This is Double Falls just down the road from our camp.

Paddling on Woods Lake.
Someone has put up duck nesting places along the shore.

A bald eagle watching us paddle by.

The jeep waiting for our return.

The next day we explored the Teton River after leaving the camper in the Cave Mountain campground part way up.  What a lot of country that area is.  There were more people up this road than the Benchmark road.  And the Cave Mountain campground was almost full when we got back.
