PEARLS OF WISDOM

"WHOEVER SAID MONEY CAN'T BUY HAPPINESS HAS NEVER OWNED A HORSE."

1 March 2016:  We are camped in the largest RV Park we have ever been in before – over 480 spots in this park!  We thought we would just camp for a couple of days at the Casino Parking lot near the Mexican border and cross over to Algadones to have a little work done on Connie’s teeth, but it was just way too hot to dry camp.  So we looked up a RV Park that was on the west side of Yuma and called them.  That is how we ended up camped here so we could have electricity to run the air conditioner.  It is 97 degrees outside as I write this at 1600 hours.  We did go into Algadones this morning and left Zeph in the air conditioned camper while we were gone.  Did not take us long as they checked out Connie’s teeth and estimated we would have to take out a loan and mortgage our house to pay for it.  Should have seen another dentist, but it is just too hot to hang around here for that.  I did score a pair of glasses on some of my old frames for less than $40 though.  And I did get a haircut for $5.00.  And we bought some fresh shrimp brought in from Rocky Point for very little and more asparagus than the two of us can eat for $5.00.

Did a hike out to an old stone cabin at the LTVA.  Moonscape like walking.

A jet going by the moon.

Looking back towards the LTVA.

What is left of the cabin.

Pictures around Algadones.

While waiting for Connie, I took a walk into the part of town the tourists don't go.  This school was pretty cute.

This is a park that has some street vendors that sell to the locals.  A number of years ago we ate there with our Nephew Ethan who speaks Spanish and had some great tacos.

MITIRI LAKE KAYAK

28 February 2016:  Today we kayaked at Mitiri Lake just to the east of us.  Had a great paddle and got to see a lot of birds.  The area has a lot of reeds that makes it a place where you want to have a GPS to keep you from getting lost in the different channels.  We were glad we had ours today as one channel looks just like the next one to me.  It is hot here and forecast to remain the same for a few days.  And by hot I mean the 90’s.  Will be headed over to Mexico in a few days so Connie can get some dental work done and I will get a haircut and maybe a new pair of glasses.

Ducks (mostly Buffleheads) taking flight.

Cinnamon Teal pair.

Puppy getting a treat.

A Great Egret.

This owl was asleep when we first paddled up to it.

The puppy will steal my seat when he can.

Palms along the channels.

When we left, the owl was fully awake.
