We stopped by Hugo, CO to visit some old friends, Ben and
Linda Orrell, from the Air Force days. I
was stationed with Ben at Nakhon Phanom Thailand where we flew rescue missions into North Vietnam. (He is also in the book “Taking
Fire” by Kevin O’Rourke that is about a mission I was involved in) We were also
stationed at Hill AFB, UT together as instructors. It was really great seeing them and had a
short but very nice visit. They are both
from Hugo originally and moved back there when Ben retired. They have a ranch and a very beautiful
home. But it is in the flat country and
the tumble weeds just blow around all day. Don't know if I could live there, no mountains in sight!
Connie caught a few tumble weeds blowing down the road with her phone camera.
Ben's old pickup which he still uses.
And it is all original parts Ike!! The cage in the back is what he uses when bringing in a calf that needs to be brought into the barn. Generally the old cow just follows along he says.
