Tucson
We spent a couple
nights in the big city of Tucson camped at the award winning FAMCAMP at Davis
Monthan AFB. They have been voted the
best camp in the Air Force and maybe in the Military for the last 7 or 8
years. We used to stop there almost
every time we were in AZ, but have not been for a number of years. The city is just getting so big and crowded
that we just don’t like driving there.
It has extended north all the way to the town of Oracle now and the Catalina State Park
is surrounded by subdivisions. But we
got some laundry done and stopped at the BX and Commissary for a few
things. Also washed our truck, camper,
and jeep at the RV car wash on base. The
base is really nice and all the housing has solar panels on the roof with a lot
of solar panels in the open areas. The
A-10s are still flying out of there but for how long I don’t know. Believe the F-35 will be based out of there
also.
The first pictures
below were taken by Connie when we were leaving Ajo. We stopped at their farmers market on the way
out of town. It is held at the plaza and
there were artists painting the wall on one of the alleyways. Also bought some oranges and tamales from a
guy selling them out of his pickup on the road out of town. And boy are they good.
They had quite a crowd at the Plaza.
Zeph and I watching the crowd.

I had a little fun with the picture below and this is what turned out.
The following pictures are of the famcamp area.
DM is where the old planes go to be left in the sun for awhile, then scraped.
Our camper looks small compared to all the big motor homes.
The famcamp even has a pet wash!!!
