We were really busy while down in Colorado so did not get to update the blog as much as I would have liked. This entry is about our drive up Scotch Creek just south of Rico. It was raining a lot down there and the night before we did this trip, it REALLY rained. So the creek was high and the boulders and rocks were slippery as was the mud! To make a short story long or vice a versa -Scotch Creek ate our lunch. We had to turn back and did not make it up to the top! Here is my update from 4 Sep 16.
4 Sept 2016
Rained most of the night.
And today we met our match with the jeep! Scotch Creek road turned us back as wet and
muddy rocks almost got us slipped into the creek. With the help of some mountain bikers and by
piling rocks up, we managed to get up and over the rocks that stopped us. We only traveled a few hundred yards when we
came upon a real muddy spot with a big rock in the middle. Just turned around and headed back down. This is why most of the jeeps around here
have winches on the front! Just turning around was a challenge. We then went and hiked part of the Gobel
trail which was not that great as it was in a lot of thick aspen with no
views.

It started out just a little bit rocky and rough. |
|
Then it opened up and was pretty nice. |
|
Then it all changed. |
|
This is where we almost slipped into the creek. |
|
Thick Quaking aspens. |
|
The leaves are starting to turn. |
