The cousins are going to rent one of the “rent a jeeps” for the
day tomorrow. We will pick it up at 5pm tonight
and go for a little “check out” drive this evening. So we went out to Box Canyon and did a tour
of that area. Pretty amazing how the
water has scoured the walls of the canyon.
The altitude of the area sure plays a part in the hike up to the view
area though. After touring the Box Canyon
area, we drove up to Ridgeway and walked around that little town for awhile and
had a great lunch there. When we got
back from Ridgeway, the cousins picked up their rental jeep and we drove up to
Yankee Basin to check it out and get more familiar with the rental jeep before
going on the Alpine Loop. The rental
jeep has a lot more clearance than our jeep and has some features that are just
for 4 wheeling. On our way back down we met a
young man who had left his car down where 2 wheel drives can go. We gave him a ride to his car and I had a
great conversation with the young man.
Gives me hope for his generation.

Hiked up the "nature trail" - how many "nature trails" are there in this country? |

I think Ben really liked driving this jeep on these mountain roads. |
