VALLEY OF THE GODS

Spent a few days here as we have in the past.  Did some exploring to some new ruins we had not seen.  Always impressed by southeast Utah.

A little nap in the sun for me.  Zeph is not sleepy!

The view from our lunch spot.

Some of the formations.

On a hike on comb ridge.

A family portrait.

Now why is that white strip of rock there.  It went for at least a mile.

Zeph looking out a window of a ruin.

Me on a rock.

Zeph's white was red after being in the dirt all day.

We camped by the Seven Sailers rock formation.

View from camp at sunrise.

Camp for a number of days.

This cow was wondering what all the posts were about.  Great to scratch an itch she thought.

Some ruins we were hiking to.

Not always easy to get there though.

Lots of rock art.

Always have to take a picture of a lizard each year.

Looking down on Cottonwood from Comb Ridge.

Love hiking around the Comb.

Connie pointing out the road she tried to drive up last year.  It is just under her right elbow.  We did not make it.

Our lunch spot.

Lots of ruins that we had not seen.

Could not believe the number of frogs in Fish Creek.

My hiking partners.

The views along the creek.

NAVAJO NATIONAL MONUMENT

We drove to the Navajo National Monument on our way north to Utah’s Valley of the Gods.  Spent the night there and did a little exploring.  Free camping was the best part!  They don’t let you look at the ruins up close, and we have hiked into better ones in Utah for sure.  But we can check it off our list of things we would like to do.

Looking northeast from Navojo National Monument.

They pretty well keep you corralled in the monument.  Can't even get off the paved trail.

You have to look clear across the canyon at the ruins.

Telephoto helps a little.

Zeph was not so interested.

Sunset at our camp.
