BORDER WALL BY LUKEVILLE, AZ

We decided to drive to Quitoboquito Springs in the Organ Pipe National Monument just north of Lukeville, AZ.  The road to get to the spring follows the US-Mexico border so it was a good chance for us to see what our border “fence” really looks like.  It might stop some horses and maybe a cow or two, but not much else.  It does mark the line between the two countries though.  But as far as a deterrent to keep illegals from crossing over illegally, it does nothing.  The spring was unique in the fact that it was there at all.  All this dessert for miles and miles and here is this spring feeding a pond with quite a few birds in the area and a few ducks swimming around on the pond.
And speaking of illegals, we had one walk into our camp the other day and ask (it took a while to figure out what he was asking) how to get to Ajo which is just across the hills to our north.  That got all our attention let me tell you.  Then coming back from Lukeville, we saw the border patrol folks arresting some guys just off the road between Why and Ajo.  I would bet they are trying to get across before the wall is built.
The weather has sure changed around here.  It is what we come down here for.  Warm and sunny days and cool nights.  Hope we have seen the last of frosty nights that is for sure.  It was in the mid to upper 70s today and it felt just great.

Some ducks on the pond from the spring.

The head of the spring.

Filled up with fuel at Why, AZ and this truck was used for an unusual fountain.

Got some Rocky Point shrimp at this stand.
This is the border wall that really looks like a wall going up over a mountain. But it is not very tall.

This is what the rest of the border security looks like.  Connie, Georgine, and Gary and the dogs in front of it.

The road the border patrol uses.

You can see houses and buildings right behind the border in places.  Some steel posts and one steel rail plus a couple of strands of wire.

Mexican highway #2 runs just a few yards south of the border.  This is a Mexican cattle truck - looks just like the ones we have in Montana!

Lots of truck traffic on this road.

We had to laugh at this sign.  If you dial 911 on your cell phone you get connected with the tower on the Mexico side.  In fact, when we got down close to Lukeville, Connie's Verizon phone said "Welcome to Mexico"
