HIKING SOLOME WILDERNESS

21 March 2017:  We did the hike into Solome Wilderness Area.  We have done this hike numerous times and always enjoy it.  It was a little hot coming out on the south facing slope though.  Got to see a couple of Gila Monsters. 

The yucca plant out our back door is getting really close to blooming.

The saguaro behind Connie was alive just a few years ago.  She posed with the same pose in front of it then.  I will have to try and find that picture and put them together.  Sad to see the old saguaro has died.

Some great rock formations just before you get to the canyon.

This "vine" type fungus takes over it's host after awhile.  Not sure exactly what it is called though.

This is the Solome River.  You can see when it is really high it cleans out quite an area.

This caterpillar was just trying to get out of the water without swimming, but was not having much luck.  I did carry him over though.

We drove the whole loop which we haven't done in many years.  The flowers were worth it.
