HAPPY THANKSGIVING

All is well here in Montana.  Hunting season will be ending soon so we can go for our walks without wearing the orange vests.  Nephew Carl was able to get a bull elk and friends from the coast got a whitetail buck.

The puppy is growing fast, but he is still a puppy and getting into trouble almost everyday.  We did get a pretty good amount of snow in the mountains so our little ski resort will open soon we are hoping.

SNOW IN MONTANA

Winter arrived here in the Bitterroot the other day.  We have about 5 or 6 inches of snow on the ground right now.  It is clearing off and will probably get down into the single digits tonight.  Zephyrus really likes the snow and has a great time playing in it.  And below will be more pictures of our puppy.  The elk are still around and attracting hunters.  We also saw some mountain lion tracks about 300 yards from our place by Coyote Flat.  The big herd of elk (at least 104) spent the night there night before last.  Maybe that is why there were mountain lion tracks!  And then yesterday evening when Travis was hunting on our sledding hill, the mountain lion walked by him and then continued on up into the rocks.  Got his attention.

We got our skis down off the top of the tack room today.  I am really looking forward to ski season this year.  Sure hope we get a lot of snow.

Zeph and Connie playing in the snow.

One of his ears sticks up a lot.

Zeph loves to get up on the rocks when we go for our walks.

Mountain lion tracks with some snow in them.

The darker spots are where elk spent the night.  Some of them slept right on our little two track road.

Part of the elk herd across Willow Creek Road by the creek itself.  They left there and came up through our place for the day.

Zephyrus surveys his kingdom.  He thinks he is not only the Greek God of the west wind, but of all the universe he can see!!!

Warming up by the fire.  Cat on the chair sleeping away the day.

MORE PICS FROM ROUNDUP AND UPDATE

My brother Gary shared some of his pictures he took while at roundup so have included some below.  Connie is down in Salt Lake City for "sister weekend" and visiting her family.  Me and Zephyrus are holding down the fort.  We have had some really nice weather lately - warm and sunny.  But that is about to change if you believe the forecast - snow and cold on the way.

Zeph enjoying the sunshine and warm temperatures.

Click to enlarge and you can see the lead way down in the valley.

Some young cowgirls and cowboys.

Conferring on the count through the gate.

The sky on a morning walk.

The snow starting to pile up in the high country.

Zeph is really starting to climb on rocks testing or in some cases, pushing his abilities.

Flowers still blooming!
