HAPPY THANKSGIVING

It has been awhile since I posted - not much going on around here.  We went over to Ike and Brenda's for Thanksgiving and had a great time.  Their son Riley was home from college, and it was nice visiting with him.  Our nephew Carl has been over hunting but left today without getting an elk.  Hunting has been slow this year around here except nephew Doug got a whitetail buck this morning.

UPDATE 11 NOV 2013

Connie has been spending quite a bit of time with Stryder because of the infection on his leg.  He has always been really good about ground work and very good without a halter on compared to our other horses.  She had him getting up on a pedestal the other day and Zeph wanted to get in on the action.

Getting him up.

Making him bow.

He will just stand there.

And Zeph says, what about me mom?

Here he is chasing a ball.  We put an orange shirt on him when we walk him out in the woods.  It is hunting season so one can not be to careful.

CATMAY RIP

Our barn cat of 14 years had to be put down yesterday.  She was not able to swallow her food anymore.  It all started with a cut under her tongue which was stitched up at the vet clinic, but just did not heal.  We were feeding her with a syringe, but that was also not working the last few days.  We will miss her.

Catmay found us at the lower cowcamp on the Martinell Ranch in the Centennial Valley.  This camp is located east of Lima, MT about 22 miles.  We figure she must have gotten in a vehicle and hitched a ride from town.  She was estimated to be about 6 months old when she showed up.  She adopted our dog Zeus as her kid and would bring him mice and gophers, which he refused to eat.  They really were buddies though - probably chasing each other around right now!!

Catmay loved sitting in the sunshine and watching the turkeys when they would come through the yard.

UPDATE 5 NOVEMBER 13

Been busy since we got back from roundup.  When we got back our 14 year old cat Catmay was not looking good and was slobbering from her mouth.  We thought she may have a bad tooth so took her into the vet.  Long story short, she had a bad cut under her tongue.  How she got that no one knows.  But the vet sutured it up and we have her on antibiotics, but she is not doing so good.  Can't eat so we are trying to feed her with a syringe.  And one of the horses we took over to roundup has developed a skin infection and it looks pretty bad.  The vet has seen him a couple of times and we are doctoring him a couple times a day.  Between the cat and horse, our vet bill will be pretty heavy duty this month.

We did have one trick or treater - grandnephew Caleb dressed up as a race car I think.

A little snow flurry going through.

Catmay not doing so well.

Pretty ugly looking leg on Stryder.

It is getting better though.
