THE EAST FORK OF THE BITTERROOT

Connie and I decided to take a little Sunday drive up the east fork of the Bitterroot and see what has been happening in that area.  We first drove up into what is called the French Basin and it is really some pretty ranch country.  Since we have had so much rain, driving on some of the forest roads was out of the question although we gave it a short try.  Then went on up the east fork to the Martin Creek area.  Saw a few deer and a lot of bighorn sheep.  Lots of wildflowers are in full bloom also.

Saw lots of lambs today.

Click to enlarge and you can see a number of lambs crossing the rocks.

This is the road we started up but turned around as the mud was really greasy and lots of ruts.

Lots of pretty rocks with all kinds of lichens and moss.

Zeph always has to have a stick to play with.

UPDATE 11 JUNE 2018

Still having a wet spring here in Montana ( some snow in the mountains and rain down in the valley).  The flowers are loving it though.  Poured out 8 tenths of an inch or rain the other morning after an all night rain.  Not much different around here.  Connie is still jumping horses and I am doing my exercises trying to get my shoulder back in shape.

Dell headed over to see what I am doing.

Lots of Bitterroots still in bloom.

A rain storm headed towards us.

Snow in the high country.

UPDATE 6 JUNE 2018

Had my left shoulder operated on last week.  It is healing well and am glad I got it done.  The bitterroots are blooming all over the place as well as other flowers in and out of Connie's garden.  Just a few pictures.

The rose bush behind the cabin is in full bloom now.

Shoulder a few days after surgery.

SPRING HAS ARRIVED IN THE BITTERROOT

We are finally getting spring here in the Montana.  The Bitterroots are starting to bloom and the grass is green.  The rose bushes are starting to bloom as well as other flowers in Connie's yard.  It is a great time of year.

Had Mike and Cheryl from Washington visit us over Memorial Day.  Good seeing them again.  They both were born and raised in Anchorage and that is where we got to know them.  That has been a few years ago!

A couple of muleys.

Lots of water at Skalkaho Falls.

Hail falling.

Had a pretty bad hail storm.  Some of the hail was the size of golf balls.

Spring flowers in the yard.

The rose bushes are starting to bloom.

Nap time in the corral.
