IN ARIZONA

We are in Arizona now.  Left a few days ago but not been able to get on the internet until today.  Below are some posts and pictures.

5 March 11:  We left the Bitterroot early this morning and headed for points south.  There was new snow on the pass at Lost Trail (2inches) and we drove in snow just about all the way to North Fork, ID.  Roads were just wet after that.  Drove down to Jackpot, NV where we spent the night in the RV Park at Cactus Pete’s Casino.  All that is available this time of year is electricity but that is all we needed so we could run the heater.  Could not get our internet service to work through Connie’s new fancy phone though.  Will have to work on that at a later date.

6 March 11:  We did not get much sleep last night as it just seemed really noisy to us – Saturday night near a Casino when we are so used to no noise at all at our place.  It was raining when we left Jackpot, but it turned to snow pretty quickly.  It snowed just about all the way to Wells.  The roads were pretty slushy in places.  After Wells, the roads were just wet for quite a ways.  The jeep really got grimy; in fact both vehicles are a mess.  When we got down to Overton, NV we stopped at the car wash and spent $5.00 to wash them.  Camped out at Valley of Fire State Park.  It was 70 degrees when we drove through Overton – Connie is smiling.

7March 11:  After our walk this morning, we went into town for some apple fritters at Lin’s Market.  Been eating these tasty treats for nearly 20 years since we first came down here.  They don’t have as much real apple in them now and have sure increased in price, but it is a habit, addiction, compulsion, craving, or an infatuation that we must have this sugar hit whenever we are in Overton, NV.  We also had to contact Verizon and find out why our internet tethered to Connie’s new phone was not working like it should have.  Since we do not get cell phone service out here in the park, had to drive part way in town to conduct our business.  Got it figured out that they want more money for the tethering.  Thought we had that all worked out when we got the phone, but I guess not.

Just about to leave the place.

On top of Lost Trail Pass.

Lots of snow on the road and sides of the road this year.

The bikes even looks cold.

Our hike at valley of fire in Nevada.

Connie walking up the wash.  She walked 2.5 miles yesterday which was 6 weeks to the day after her last knee replacement.  Pretty tough girl.
