UPDATE 3 SEPTEMBER 2016

Drove part of the galloping goose road which is an old train track that has been converted to a road.  It was originally the train track that came from the Telluride area to the Rico mine.  Then we drove up a forest service road to the Hope Lake trailhead put on our packs and started walking.  Great hike although a little steep but well worth it as the visuals were just outstanding.  Left there and drove up through Ophir and on up to the Ophir pass which is 11,789 according to the sign at the top.  Long day and both of us quite tired.  Jeep pretty muddy.  Lots of rain and even hail on the drive.

This trestle is part of the Galloping Goose Railroad from Rico to Telluride.

This outcropping was called the rock cross or something like that.

This cairn was a balancing act!

The trail to Hope Lake was well used.

The views were spectacular though.

Zeph waiting for his cookies.

Lots of bumble bees getting the last nectar of the season on the sunflowers.

Still quite a few wildflowers in bloom though.

Hope lake.

Puppy always posing for a picture.

On the trail out.

Crossing the creek.

The road to Ophir Pass.

And then it started to rain off and on.

And then it would stop.

It got a little crowded once.

The road up through the rocks.  The white is what is left of a camper top or trailer it looks like.

Looking back down the hill.

The summit.

And then a rain and hailstorm really hit.
