UPDATE 5 SEPT 2016

Left our Forest Service campground near Rico and headed over to Ouray, CO. Connie and spent a little time here in the 70's also.  It has not changed as much or drastically as Telluride has, but it has changed!  It is now the jeep capital of Colorado and the Alpine route is it's most famous road. We camped in the KOA campground.  Got all set up then jumped in the jeep and drove towards Silverton, CO and drove up the east side of the Ophir Pass.  When we drove it the other day, we did not get any further than the top of it as it was raining and hailing when we were up there.  Today it was just blue skies and hardly any wind.  Spent a few minutes at the top then had some lunch part way back down.  Stopped and explored the old Yankee Girl mine for awhile then drove back to Ouray where we met cousins Diane, Ben, and Cheryl.  They are going to be at the cousins reunion also.  Had a good supper at a Mexican restaurant on main street.

Up near the top of the pass.

A spring coming out of the hillside.

Looking east towards Silverton.

Stopped by the Yankee Girl mine area to check it out on the way back to Ouray.

Looking west from the mine.  You can see an active mine on the left.

This is a mine reclamation area that looks pretty good.
