CONNIE'S DADS MEMORIAL

When Connie's father died a number of years ago we were not able to get Military Honors performed for him (21 gun salute) so the family was finally able to carry out his wishes when there was a family reunion/get together last week in Salt Lake City.  Connie's sister Pat contacted the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) which he was a member and they provided the military ceremony.  They did not have enough members show up so I was able to help them out and be in the firing squad.  That was really an honor for me.  Wendell and I shared that military bond and were both war survivors, he of WWII and me of Vietnam.  It was a very moving ceremony and was especially memorable as his three daughters, his grandchildren, and his great grand children were all there.

Getting it all set up.

Family and friends gather.

Three of his granddaughters.

Here I am trying to answer great granddaughter Avery's questions.

Grandson Royce videoed the ceremony.

Military honors in progress.

After the Military Honors, the family took turns remembering Wendell.

After the ceremony we all gathered at Christian and Nicolette's place for supper.

And we also celebrated grandson Ethan's 40th birthday.
