AJO 1

Left Yuma and headed east toward Gila Bend and Ajo.  Just outside of Gila Bend we hit some things on the road and Gary and Georgine got an immediate flat tire.  We hit what I thought was a piece of tire but we got no flat.  A total of 5 vehicles had flat tires after hitting whatever it was on the freeway – motorhomes and cars all pulled over to the side of the road.  The highway patrol had received word that there was something going on so they showed up.  Gary got his spare on, but his other tire was ruined.  So we spent the night at the Gila Bend AF Station famcamp and went into Casa Grande to get a couple of new tires for Gary.  Then we went on down to Ajo where we camped out in the BLM land south of town.  It is one of our favorite places to stay.  Lots of Cactus and flowers.  We also went down to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and did a drive in there.  They have now opened up all the monument roads that had been closed for years due to the illegal alien traffic.

Our campsite south of Ajo.

Cool nights and mornings in the desert here.  And a spoiled dog getting more spoiled.

The moon setting.

Zeph watching the sun come up with me from the rock  behind camp.

Moonrise behind the Ocatillos.

Connie always hamming it up with a organ pipe cactus behind her.

The kayaks always get a few looks out in the desert.

An odd formation on the organ pipe.

They even have 2 arches in the monument, one big one and one little one above it.

Sunrise with a little more color.

Our house on wheels.
